Why did the customer contact us?

Our floors don’t feel solid anymore and the house just feels uneven when you walk through it. In the living room especially, the floor feels like it slopes and dips in the middle, and there are spots that feel soft or kind of spongy under your feet. Some areas even bounce a little when you step on them. Furniture doesn’t sit level like it used to, and it feels like the house may have settled or sunk over time. I don’t know if this is a foundation issue or something under the house, but it definitely doesn’t feel right and I’m worried it could get worse or become unsafe. I’m looking for someone who can take a look, explain what’s going on, and tell us what it would take to fix the sagging, sloping floors.

Solutions provided:

Your floors were sloping and felt soft because moisture under the house had weakened parts of the structure over time. When excess moisture is present, it can cause the wood that supports the floors to lose strength, which leads to sagging, uneven, or bouncy floors.
To correct this, we installed new structural steel floor supports along with 6×6 pressure-treated wood girders underneath the house. The pressure-treated girders were used to properly support the floor system, while the steel supports were set to carry and stabilize the weight of the home and prevent further movement. This combination allowed us to reinforce the structure without relying on wood that had already been compromised by moisture.
Once everything was installed and properly set, the sagging areas of the floor were stabilized and load was transferred back down to solid ground. This addressed the immediate structural problems and stopped the floors from continuing to sink, slope, or bounce.
About moisture and future protection
Because moisture played a role in the original issue, there may be a point in the future where additional moisture control — such as crawlspace encapsulation — would be beneficial. However, the most important priority was correcting the structural damage first. That immediate concern has now been properly addressed, and any additional moisture-control upgrades can be considered later if needed.
